Job Summary:
The Engineering technician should be well versed in basic electronics as it pertains to power electronics, such as buck regulators, and various passive and semiconductor devices and how they interact and perform in and around the other components within the circuit. Key tasks are outlined below:
- Tune, test and troubleshoot AC/DC power components and systems
- Measure ripple current in a power supply.
- Measure efficiency of a power supply circuit.
- Inductors how do they operate and what are they for in a buck regulator circuit?
- RDS on, Vds, Vgs, what component are they for and how do they affect the circuit?
- Confident with the use of Oscilloscopes for AC and DC system measurements.
- Understand SPI and Serial communications to a debug level.
- Basic understanding of Python and/or Labview programming.
- Familiar with test equipment’s including signal generators/analyzers, power meters and multi-meters etc.
- Follow ESD procedures.
- Work from schematics, work instructions, drawings and operating procedures
- Basic hand tools (screwdrivers, crescent wrenches) will be used.
As the primary device to be tested is a proprietary integrated circuit, knowledge of testing parameters involved in I.C. bring-up is also needed. The daily tasks will be to characterize AC/DC power I.C.

Duties/Responsibilities:
- Contribute to the IC Silicon Design, development of analog-mixed signal, digital systems for AC direct power system products.
- Drive the IC Top level architecture definition, design of the analog & digital circuits, subsystems Register Transfer Level (RTL) coding, design, implementation & Verification.
- Perform design & simulation for integration of functional units and subsystems into full chip.
- Architecture, design, simulate and verify analog mixed-signal circuits for optimum power/speed/area efficiency.
- Closely work with SOC System architects to Define mixed-signal design specifications.

- Must have a working understanding of power electronics and transistor-level circuits. Working on low power management system design for CPU 7 GPU applications, custom mixed-signal circuits and logic design in advanced CMOS technologies using custom and semi-custom physical design flows

Duties/Responsibilities:
- This work will involve combination of lab work with the internal company engineering, product management and sales teams in understanding and defining the company’s technology capabilities and roadmap. This knowledge base will be over-layer with partner product requirements, testing requirements and procedures of various demo platforms and implementing them on-site at partner facilities.
- For partner testing: The in-lab requirements will include working with Amber’s engineering team to understand the exact test set-ups, measurements and why each test is being performed on various demo platforms. This information will then need to be articulated into documentation for internal and external use to allow for future replication and easy understanding of results in Amber’s lab and at partner facilities. Furthermore, you will act as the conduit for testing at partner’s facilities. This will mean traveling with sales, marketing and/or engineering to various customer facilities and following a complete replica of what was performed in Amber’s Lab.
- This requires in all cases an in-depth knowledge into each demonstration platform and how each test will apply to future product development along with adhering to sales strategies. You will need be in direct communication with the customers in their lab, coordinating demos and sending of documentation.
- For customer integration support: You will work with product management and sales teams to support our partners in bringing end products to market with Amber’s technology integrated. This process will include defining customer product requirements as it relates to Amber’s technologies as well as validating the technology fit to those requirements. Then you will support internal teams and external customers in the qualification, and proto-type development of partner products integrating Amber’s technologies. This work will transition to supporting partners final push towards product certification for final release for high volume.
- Travel required for partner testing and customer integration.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Skilled hands-on engineer with good lab instrumentation skills
- Knowledge in electrical circuits, power electronics & power management products
- Proficient in using a variety of test equipment and electronic laboratory instruments.
