“Yesterday when I was sitting with the president and his Cabinet and all of the CEOs of these large companies and you’re listening, it’s purely about America — the next phase of AI and data centers, who’s going to own it?” Casey said. “It’s not any different from the space race and the computer race and the industrial revolution and the automotive race. It is a race right now.” Microsoft, Alphabet, Arm, Anthropic, ExxonMobil, Bechtel, Blackstone, SoftBank and AWS, among others, according to reports at Reuters and AP News.

Trump and McCormick touted $90 billion in innovation-related investments in Pennsylvania. Commitments announced include a $3 billion electricity deal with Google, a $6 billion AI data center from CoreWeave, $25 billion in data and energy infrastructure investments from Blackstone and $20 billion for two data centers from Amazon.

The 8-year-old startup, also known as AmberSemi, has raised $33 million in equity funding so far, Casey confirmed to the Business Times. And he’ll be raising a new round of financing which he expects will help get the startup to profitability.

He also intends to keep AmberSemi headquartered in Dublin with a lean team of around 30 employees, but his sales team will likely grow as the company expands.

“Data centers are being built left and right, everywhere” around the world, Casey said. “My objective in here is to build something that every data center in the world can benefit from.”

He also described AmberSemi’s technology as a new “architecture breakthrough” that has decades-long resilience and can replace outdated 20th century approaches. Tech companies have been lining up nuclear energy deals and investments with the hopes that nuclear fission, and potentially fusion in the future, will provide a long term source of energy  for their accelerating, AI-related energy needs.

Casey said that AmberSemi’s technology can help boost computing efficiency as infrastructure is ramped up by the so-called hyperscalers — which include cloud and data center providers.

“The race is on” and that’s going to squeeze energy needs in the short term from both clean and dirty energy, Casey said, “but honestly, I see so many companies right now that are trying to come up with alternative sources of energy, and clean energy, and that makes me very happy to see.”

“Anytime you enter into space like this or a chapter like this (in history), you’re going to give birth to people who invent,” Casey continued. “In the meantime, we can’t lose the race.”
